PMS : Get Out of The Way

pms-girls lebanon beirut

So you probably heard, when a woman is distressed and hot-tempered nothing productive happens! You men need to step aside, hold your horses, let it breathe and just disappear for a while! Unless you wana get yourself in trouble that’s the best way to do it. We women spend 11 days before our period bitching around and making everyone’s life around us a living hell! But how much can you blame us, it’s a biological fact in which our body provokes such strong feelings of anxiety, depression, cramping and sugar craving due to changes in hormones, and it’s beyond any control (pitiful face)! You don’t like it when you feel invisible, we know that, but at that point you don’t really have a choice! One of the reasons why women tend to understand each other well is because we recognize the pain and suffering each one goes through! Every woman knows that it’s impossible to control it; or maybe just maybe most of the time we just enjoy blaming it all on PMS!

Why does this phase mess up our mood?

Scientifically speaking, Premenstrual syndrome is a range of physical and emotional symptoms that normally take place about 5 to 11 days before a woman begins her monthly menstrual cycle. What happens is that women experience headaches, cramps, back ache, fatigue, sore breasts and weight gain that make it impossible to wear anything comfortably! Not only is it physical but mental and emotional syndromes arise as well such as mood swings, lack of interest in sex, insomnia and anger! In other words, this change in hormones causes stress and agony! And when stress and agony meet there’s nothing neither fun nor beautiful!

My own philosophical interpretation: Yes, PMS symptoms manifest themselves in an unconscious aggressive behavior and mental disorder but I believe every woman ought to unleash the beast inside of her every once in a while, see the only way to please you men is when we’re being kind, sweet and understandable! We do sacrifice a lot; you should know and appreciate that! We suppress feelings of anger caused by you and when they’re too much to bear, it becomes impossible to abstain from it! That’s when we give you the impression that we’re PMS-ing (God bless whoever discovered that concept, or rest thy soul) Am I thinking out loud? Never mind, if you’re smart enough you would’ve figured it out yourself; if not, then here’s something you didn’t know!

However, it is accurate, when we’re in that stage we tend to be aggressive crazy and unbearable! When your woman is experiencing the cycle of hormone fluctuations (PMS) i advice you men to:

  • Show up with chocolate or don’t show up at all.
  • Don’t you dare try and upset us, because it will get back at you.
  • Don’t you dare try and make us jealous because we can lose it to the extent of killing someone.
  • We won’t care about your day so keep it to yourself or go tell your mother about it.
  • We won’t get your jokes so better not make any (seriously, you don’t want a fake pms-ing laugh)
  • We don’t wana be cuddled much; our body will be in pain already; unless you plan on doing it softly!
  • We won’t be available at your services so better not start sending hints about how much you miss feeling us (we’ll make you feel alright.. Pain.)
  • Again, we demand chocolate; it’s not even an option! P.S: anything but Ghandour!

It sounds terrible, but don’t worry we will eventually apologize for our behavior and make your day, bear with us few days; we bear with you much much more! Right honeybee?

Regardless of how much this stage sucks, that won’t make us lose our mutual respect for one another nor do we use it as a way to underestimate you men. If we’re that much fed up we’ll consciously get rid of you without giving any excuse! All we’ll be asking is for you to empathize, even if you can’t sympathize.

Every woman has an inner monster (but cute one) inside of her! Most men only discover that after they’re married! Think of PMS as a sample of what you will get if you plan on spending the rest of your life with your woman! If you can handle it, good for you, if not, just spare yourself lawyers and the divorce stages!

Half of what I mentioned above is exaggerated, you do know that! Nevertheless there’s no doubt that this stage has an effect on women’s actions; you see anger and sadness on one hand and on the other hand you find confusion and moments of bewilderment about everything happening around them! Men, try not to take anything personally; she will eventually regain the sense of herself! For some women PMS could turn into an illness which can only be cured by PMS medication! See how ugly it can get?! So if you wonder why sometimes the woman you adore and call “sweet angel” gets “ferocious and evil” you got the answer!

This article is dedicated to all women out there who know exactly what I’m talking about and to all men who did or did not know that! Whether you’re planning on getting married (or God forbid you are married) take into consideration that women’s twisted behavior is not due to a state of mind but rather a biological fact, try to be as supportive as possible to one another! After all it only takes place once a month!
